Quality & Compliance Challenges 2015

More than 180 attendees heard updates and critical new information from experts in their fields at the 2015 Corporate Compliance Conference for Providers Serving People with Disabilities Tuesday, May 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy. 

Susan Constantino, President & CEO of Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State, began the day with a welcome and thank you to all who attended the full-day conference. She closed her remarks with her thoughts on the dramatic changes faced by those who provide supports and services for people with disabilities and the challenges the field faces.

The initial morning session was an update on compliance and quality issues presented by Thomas A. Barone of the NYS Office of the Medicaid Inspector General and David Robinson, Leah Farrrell and Robert T. DeCataldo, Esq., from the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.

The morning concluded with a session on social media policies and procedures  presented by Melissa M. Zambri, Esq., from Hiscock & Barclay, LLP.

The afternoon began with two concurrent breakout sessions. Session #1 provided information on corporate compliance issues faced by clinics and was presented by Jack M. Jordan, from JMJ Healthcare Compliance Group, Darby Walsh, of Putnam ARC and Deb Williams from Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State. Session #2 was presented by Virginia Vath of The Resource Center and focused on how to reduce emergency room visits.

The final session on incident management and investigation featured presentations from Robert A. Hussar from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, Jennifer Moore, Sullivan ARC, Maria Torgalski, from Aspire of WNY and Erik C. Geizer from NYSARC, Inc.
